I read today that His Holiness has appointed Bishop Dennis Sullivan of the Archdiocese of New York to become the Bishop for the Diocese of Camden, NJ.
Camden, NJ is among the most dangerous and crime-ridden cities in America for murders, rapes, assaults, and robberies. And poor, too - last year, it deactivated its police force as it could no longer afford it, and is instead allowing the county to patrol.
So pray for Bishop Sullivan - this is a combat post. Hopefully, Rome will issue him a flak jacket . . . or, at the least, a Kevlar pectoral cross.
St. Michael the Archangel,
defend us in battle.
Be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the Devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou,
O Prince of the heavenly hosts,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan,
and all the evil spirits,
who prowl about the world
seeking the ruin of souls. Amen. (+)

He is not just going to Camden but to the entire diocese which consists of many many places that do not require body armor. We are blessed to have him serve our area.
Fair enough, but prayers for safety should not be discounted.
