I am in Southern California on a business trip and it was hard getting on a plane after losing my dog, Dante (see post below).
Yesterday, I was sitting having coffee at my friend's house, my husband called. He was at the vet. Our youngest dog, Mac, had been struck by a car. As I write this, Mac is at an animal trauma hospital in West Knox, in critical condition.
I spent most of yesterday in a fog. Was Mac out looking for Dante? How can this happen? It was such a bizarre coincidence and I was trying to figure out, what was the plan in all this?
So, please - if you love dogs, pray for my Maccabee. I ask the holy Hebrew warrior, Judah Maccabee, of the Old Testament, to intercede and pray for strength for my dog and my family, especially my husband who is dealing with this without me there. Yesterday, he had our daughter with him at the hospital, and she was a trooper - I have a great husband and kid!
As of this morning, Mac was no worse but had managed to eat some chicken and even walked a bit, according to the vet tech. They are monitoring the progression of ultrasounds, as he had blood in his abdomen - question is whether he has a bleed somewhere that would require surgery.
Fight on, Big Mac!

Praying
Prayers headed your way- I am shocked to hear of this and wish I could help with more than my prayers!
I saw what Her Crescatnes said in the comments yesterday and I was reminded what my now deceased confessor told me about the passing of beloved cats and/or dogs who had shared this earthly life with us- that we WOULD see them again as God would NEVER waste His love and He created our pets to love us here on earth.
My heart is breaking for you and your family. Prayers and more prayers. Please stay with someone who can watch out for you until you get back home.
Oh, geez. I am so sorry. We are nuts about our dogs as well. Praying!
