Meanwhile, there was a rumor that utility workers from Alabama were turned away in New Jersey because their workers were not union members, Alabama being a "right to work" state. It turns out that was not true, but . . .
A third Alabama utility, Decatur Utilities, said its employees were asked to affiliate with a union before starting to work on the power restoration in the aftermath of superstorm Sandy, AL.com reported.
Why? Why must volunteer relief workers "affiliate" with a local union to help people?
