His followers needed to re-elect him to a second term, so that he could continue to accomplish the promises he made, thus, realizing his vision of America as a more perfect political union or "heaven here on earth" Then, as I began to contemplate ways to assist Barack in his 2012 re-election bid something miraculous happened. I felt God's (His) Spirit beckoning me in my dreams at night. Listening, cautiously, I learned that Jesus walked the earth to create a more civilized society, Martin (Luther King) walked the earth to create a more justified society, but, Apostle Barack, the name he was called in my dreams, would walk the earth to create a more equalized society, for the middle class and working poor. Apostle Barack, the next young leader with a new cause, had been taken to the mountaintop and allowed to see over the other side. He had the answers to unlock the kingdom of "heaven here on earth" for his followers.
This is not simply a supporter; Ms. Thompson is a believer. According to Ms. Thompson, "the Spirit informed [her] that [her] service as a Disciple would take [her] on a journey of extracting the answers from Apostle Barack's speeches and preparing them as 'Excerpts' for the ease of his followers. Those 'Excerpts' would, then, be used as a means of teaching Apostle Barack's followers about him and guiding them towards understanding 'politics as religion' and 'religion as politics.' Additionally, his followers must accept the fact that it would be through politics that the middle class and working poor would be able to find the answers to creating for themselves a 'Heaven Here on Earth.'"
The blasphemy is obvious. The Kingdom of God is by His will. Disciples are chosen by Christ to do His work, and not to advance the causes of one whom they believe is doing God's work.
It would be easy to dismiss Thompson simply as a simpleton, and one somewhat deranged. But I think there is a moral hunger that someone like Obama can exploit and seemingly fill. I am sure that many of the more "enlightened" liberals would scoff at her, too, saying that she had taken her admiration a tad too far. But I recall one of them saying to me that his expectations for the next four years would be that Obama would continue his practice of "prudent spending," as if the $16 trillion in debt into which he led this country was meaningless. And how hateful were the Republicans.
This is important because religious adherents come in two flavors. There are the type as Thompson, who see divine revelation in the words of her prophet cum God, and adapt those words to fit into meaning for her life. When divine revelation is real, we have seen this in the writings of the Doctors of the Church; when it is false, we have seen this in the shifting positions of the suria of Islam.
And then there are those who adopt their faith as an opposition to someone or something they do not like, even abhor. Certainly, there have been those who acted wrongly in the name of God based upon a perception of who is the enemy of Christ, and such sin led to events like the St. Bartholomew's Day massacre of French Huguenots by a Catholic mob. But I think in many instances, the liberals have taken the second stance - they elevate their God based upon their hatred of those who disagree with or oppose him, and do not even realize that they take on the role of a religious zealot.
Who is more dangerous? From the latter would be those who would kill you and your family for the cause, while the former provides the religious justification.
Just keep in mind Matthew 7:15, when looking at anyone whom people might hold up as a leader:
Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but underneath are ravenous wolves.
And remember - God chooses disciples to serve Him . . . and not another.
