It's the most wonderful time of the year . . .
Tonight the Vols take on NC State tonight to open its 116th year of football. Last year I attended my first game at Neyland Stadium and I can tell you, it is a blast. There is nothing like being at a game, live, and watching all the pageantry that goes on in collegiate football. And even if you are not going to the game, downtown Knoxville takes on a festive atmosphere when the Vols are at home, with a sea of orange all over the city.
Hours before a game, the fans line up outside Neyland Stadium for Vol Walk, when the team arrives, dressed in suits to show this is serious business, and UT's Pride of the Southland Marching Band parades in.
And, of course, this is heard:
Corn won't grow at all on Rocky Top,
Dirt's too rocky by far.
That's why all the folks on Rocky Top,
Get their corn from a jar!
Now, this Wednesday, I will be traveling to Noo Yawk to attend the opening game of the NY Giants, my Big Blue Wrecking Crew, at MetLife stadium. Still trying to figure out what lens to pack (they have a 6" limit) but pictures will follow.
FOOTBALL IS BACK!
GO BIG ORANGE!
