I am not a big fan of a lot of contemporary Christian music. A good portion of it is vapid and boring, and the stuff that is good seems tepid in its approach to worship. It's . . . nice. And that is about all I can say.
That is why I love The Thirsting. When they ramp it up, it is unapologetic, straightforward, in-your-face rock, and not just Christian rock, but Catholic rock (I wonder how many Catholic artists purposely keep the mackerel snappin' on hold to be able to sell to the evangelical Christian crowd).
I had the opportunity to hear The Thirsting play at the Diocese of Knoxville's World Youth Day. very good stuff and even when the lead singer, Daniel Uberreuter spoke, he was on point and strong.
And they are nice guys, too. If they are playing in your area, go and treat yourself to good Catholic rock.
Go here to see more pictures from their Knoxville appearance.
