Why my religion is cooler than yours: because we have patron saints of BEER

Today is the feast day of St. Arnold of Soissons.

And, in Her infinite Wisdom, Mother Church has tagged him as a patron saint of beer brewers.

At the abbey, he began to brew beer, as essential in medieval life as water. He encouraged local peasants to drink beer, instead of water, due to its "gift of health." During the process of brewing, the water was boiled and thus, unknown to all, freed of pathogens.

And . . . there is a heat wave going on in much of the country.

Can you really question the Hand of God at play here?

In nominis Deus, et Filis, et Spiritus Sanctus, io tappa kegga . . .
Excuse me, now - I must hie to the kegerator because anything less would be an insult to the good Saint and perhaps even in contradiction to God's command.
