Yeah, no shit. I am interested in following this case.
First, I am curious about the jurisdictional issue - who gets the case, New York or Califrnia? While Katie may not have the residency requirements, it should be remembered that New York is a "fault" state and one ground as to why it has jurisdiction is that the "fault" occurred in the state. Interesting.
Second, I think Scientology is a whack job religion. No, strike that - it is not a religion but a dangerous Ponzi scheme where people lie and people die. Ask Lisa McPherson's family. Just where is Shelly Miscavige, the current leader's wife, who has seemingly disappeared since 2006?
Katie is reporting that people are following her in New York. Not surprising - this is SOP for Scientology, especially for those they call "squirrels," people who have left the cult. I don't know if Katie ever formally converted, but I think her concerns about people following her are legitimate. On the other hand, this case could blow open Scientology to public scrutiny, so maybe David Miscavige will tell Tom to back off, which he will as a cult member.
Happy birthday, Tom. I don't like you, I don't like your cult, and I think this is a great 50th birthday gift - legal papers.
