At least, that is what Democratic leaders seem to think.
First, Nancy Pelosi claims that it was a "calculated move" by Romney to get booed while addressing the NAACP Convention, something he was invited to do by the NAACP. Which is a nice and implicit way of saying, "Those people can't be trusted not to fall for the oldest trick in the book." I am sure she is probably telling Obama today, "They do what we want - next time, we select the lineup."
And so the Democratic nominee gets equal time before the NAACP - which he uses to send a video-taped message from himself (to be fair, he probably had a tee time reserved) and sends . . . good old Joe Biden. To be fair, Joe does not fall back on "Hey, some of my best friends are Black!" for his usual stand-up shtick (wait, you mean he's being serious when he speaks?!), but did not go too far from that, instead saying "how much" he has "learned" about Black people sitting in . . . the Rev. Jeremiah Wright's church. In Illinois.
“It is not an exaggeration, were it not for the leadership of the NAACP, for the men and women who educated me when we‘d sit over in Reverend Wright’s church as we’re talking about desegregating the Realdo and the Queen movie theater. Remember Mouse, those days? I learned so much, I learned so much, and I owe so much.”
Okay, putting aside the first question of who the hell is Mouse (see also, "Mousey", as Joe initially used in his shout out to him - or maybe, her), I was trying to figure out, what Joe was talking about.
I cannot find any reference to the Realdo theatre. But, there was a Queen Movie Theater in Wilmington, DE, where Joe Biden and his family would live after moving their lunch pails from Scranton, PA. According to Internet sources, around 1957 he participated in an anti-segregation sit-in at a Wilmington theater. Maybe it was the Queen, that closed in 1959 until its renovation last year. Maybe there was a Realdo theater in Wilimgton and that was where Mighty Joe Young sat his tuckis.
But in 1957, the Rev. Wright was attending high school in Philadelphia. He would not even go on to divinity school in Chicago until 1969, and in 1972 became pastor of a church.
So, either Joe was confused as to where he sat planning his sit-in, or he was talking about the first time Obama took Biden to his former church and Joe trotted out his sit-in to establish his "street creds" - emphasis on former, since Obama has been trying to distance himself from the Rev. Wright since May 2008, when he denounced his former pastor for anti-Semitic remarks. Which makes Joe Biden's remarks all the more funny.
Did I say May 2008? Considering it was not until June 2008 when Biden said he would consider being Obama's running mate, after Biden dropped out of the presidential campaign in January 2008, that left little time for Biden to hook up with Mousey and shoot the scheiss over at the Rev. Wright's church about them good old days.
Which still leaves this question -
"There's an old expression that you go home with those that brung you to the dance — well they brung me to the dance!" Biden said. "I went through the battles with Mouse — Hey, Mousey are you out there? Hey, Mousey! How you doin' man?"
Do you think Black people ever get tired of politicians adopting a "folksy" tone with them?

| BTW, this was the scene at Biden's speech, tweeted by a reporter who was there. Maybe Joe had a hard time finding Mouse due to the magnitude of the crowd. |
