Boston mayor Thomas Menino has vowed to do everything in his power as mayor to block the company from opening a location in Boston.in his city. On his official letterhead, Menino sent this:
In recent days, you said Chick-fil-A opposes same-sex marriage and said the generation that supports it has an "arrogant attitude.''
Now -- incredibly -- your company says you are backing out of the same-sex marriage debate. I urge you to back out of your plans to locate in Boston.
You called supporters of gay marriage "prideful.'' Here in Boston, to borrow your own words, we are "guilty as charged.'' We are indeed full of pride for our support of same sex marriage and our work to expand freedom to all people. We are proud that our state and our city have led the way for the country on equal marriage rights.
I was angry to learn on the heels of your prejudiced statements about your search for a site to locate in Boston. There is no place for discrimination on Boston's Freedom Trail and no place for your company alongside it. When Massachusetts became the first state in the country to recognize equal marriage rights, I personally stood on City Hall Plaza to greet same sex couples coming here to be married. It would be an insult to them and to our city's long history of expanding freedom to have a Chick-fil-A across the street from that spot.
And he has stated he will oppose any business license for Chik-Fil-A. A Chicago alderman, Joe Moreno, has vowed the same for his city.
Now, Chik-Fil-A has never been accused of denying service to anyone. Had there been such discrimination, indeed that would be in violation of various statutes based on the Civil Rights Act. But that is not what is causing the uproar. Rather, this is what transpired when Dan Cathy, owner and CEO of Chik-Fil-A, was interviewed by the Baptist Press.
Some have opposed the company's support of the traditional family. "Well, guilty as charged," said Cathy when asked about the company's position.
"We are very much supportive of the family -- the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that.
"We operate as a family business ... our restaurants are typically led by families; some are single. We want to do anything we possibly can to strengthen families. We are very much committed to that," Cathy emphasized.
"We intend to stay the course," he said. "We know that it might not be popular with everyone, but thank the Lord, we live in a country where we can share our values and operate on biblical principles."

Except if they clash with those of Thomas Menino. Who is all for being inclusive unless he disagrees with you. So Chik-Fil-A are a buncha haters. As are most people of the Baptist faith, Orthodox Jews, and Muslims. And many of those damn Catholics. In fact, if you are eating a piece of Domino's Pizza, put it down right no, lest you be poisoned by the conservative values of its Catholic founder, Tom Monaghan. Oh sure, it has donated numerous dollars to organizations like the Make-A-Wish Foundation and St. Jude's Children Hospital, but it is the principle that matters. Right?
Gay activists plan a same-sex "kiss-in" day on August 3rd this year at Chik-Fil-A locations. What a bunch of spoiled brats - not content with simply choosing not to patronize the restaurant, they have to use it to shove their agenda in the faces of its patrons - because what else is their purpose? Former Arkansas governor is calling for August 1st to be Chik-Fil-A Appreciation Day, and is asking for people to go get themselves some fine chicken on that Wednesday. I will be there on August 1st - at least my grease stains will be honest.
And if you send me your pictures of you eating at Chik-Fil-A on August 1st, I will post them here.
By the way, do you know why people love Chik-Fil-A? Because it is so friggin' gooooooooood . . .

If Starbucks can support gay marriage and not be attacked, why can't it be the same for Chik- Fil-A ?
The double standard in this country is staggering!
