Friends of mine from Detroit drove down this weekend to visit. On Friday night, we headed down to Market Square in downtown Knoxville to meet up with some other photogs.
While there, we met Brian. Brian lived in San Diego, but after the death of his parents, decided to hitch hike east to Tennessee.
Brian was accompanied by his two loves, Breanna the Cockatiel and Turbo the Pitbull. Both are gentle creatures, trained by Brian. Brian is homeless. The local shelters will not allow him in for a night's rest because of Turbo, because Turbo is a "dangerous" breed. But Brian will not leave his dog. "He is my child," Brian explained. "You can't abandon your baby."
Brian taught Breanna a number of tricks - to flap her wings, to take his earring out, and to give Daddy some love.
He thought it was funny that I wanted to take his picture. "No, ma'am, I'm too ugly for that." I assured him he wasn't. I gave Brian a donation to help out; he hadn't asked for any money. He started crying and told me that he would pray for me and my family. Dolly Girl gave him a hug when we were leaving.
I need to print out these pictures and find him downtown so he can have them.
Get out of your comfort zone and talk to people. Stories like this are gifts from God.

Christ in disguise.
Anonymous, that thought did cross my mind. If not Him, one of His angels.
