America can't seem to get a break at the Olympics

No, I don't mean swimming.  The French beat us again in a different competition.

At a reception at Buckingham Palace, the First Lady wore a jacket . . . that cost $6,800 and was designed by J. Mendel, a fashion studio that although has a Manhattan store, is actually a French company.

I could ask whether Barack Obama has any adviser of average intelligence who might have advised his wife that during an election year - and after the criticism that our Olympic team uniforms were made in China and looked more French than American - it would not be a good idea for her to wear a piece of clothing that costs more than what the average American family makes in a month - $4,284.

But why?  Who in the mainstream media would even dare criticize Michelle Obama for choosing such an ensemble during a time of record unemployment and recession?  Oh, wait - that last question presumes that anyone in the mainstream media would even want to do so.

Qu'ils mangent du gateau!
