I was trying to set up a shot for Valentine's Day, using my dogs. Frustration - the pack wasn't behaving, I cannot get the friggin' wrinkles out of my muslin backdrop, and I need stronger continuous lights or a light box.
I gave up, uttered a "Grumph!", shut off the lights, and turned away from the set up. My old man, Dante - who is 8 years old and devoted to me - looked up at me . . . and damned if he did not walk into the studio area and sit squarely between the two lights. I looked at him. He looked at me, as if to say, "Ready?" I said, "Okay," got up, turned on the studio lights, and took some shots. As I write this, he is curled up on the backdrop, sleeping peacefully.
God, I love that dog.
Don't ever think dogs are not empathetic.
A priest, Fr. John Moneypenny, gave me this dog. Dante is the greatest gift I ever got from a friend.

So sweet and lovely shots. Nice to have a friend like Dante. And a friend like you.
