They always do this and think it makes them masters of debate.
When someone says that something a person has done is wrong . . . it makes no sense to defend or attack it with what another person - or even that same person - has done in an unrelated circumstance.
To wit, recently on facebook I saw a friend post something along the lines of "Whitney Houston was not a crackhead. Yes, she did drugs but so did a lot of other prople." Well, setting aside the argument that "doing drugs" is symptomatic of a crackead . . . how does the fact that, say, a complete stranger to her is presently cooking meth in Fontana, CA.
Or, going back to the above "witty" riposte above, so if I was a Jew living in Germany 1939 and wanted to stop what I thought was rising anti-Semitism by the government, my opinion is invalid because you did not agree with the Treaty of Versailles.
