Hurrrrrrr . . . I catch fish dis BIG!

One of the highlights of my trip to Washington DC was to see the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.  Built largely in the 1930's, much of the style of frescos and mosaics evoke the era of Roosevelt and the WPA.

But behind the main altar is a GIANT fresco of Jesus Christ, which I am told some wags call "Angry Nordic Jesus."


I think they have a point.  And my daughter thinks it would make a great name for a heavy metal band.
