Taken January 16, 2012 at Hannah's Cafe in White Pine, Tennessee.
Tennessee law prohibits smoking in restaurants, unless it is an establishment where only people 21 years of age or older can enter. This cafe, Hannah's, despite the sale of no alcohol on its premises, changed to a "21 or older" establishment rather than succumb to state law. So there is a place in Jefferson county, where an old man can still sit a dream over a piece of pie, a cup of coffee, and a cigarette to make it all mellow . . .

As of New Year's, this scene would have been illegal in ANY restaurant or bar in the city of Boise, even if not accessible to anybody under 21. Also in any outdoor event, sidewalk cafe, the common areas in any apartment or condo complex, private homes containing daycare or health care facilities, any public building, any building open to the public, sports arenas, private clubs, the Basque Block on 8th Street, and pretty much anywhere except a couple of square inches near city limits. I think THAT'S a drag, and I've never smoked in my life.
Anita, that is why I, a non-smoker, went to this cafe when my friend told me its story. I wanted to see a pace where a person could escape a nanny state for awhile and savor a cigarette.
Plus, my mother would have loved this place.
