Oh Yah, Like, Bad Shit Happening - LOLZ!!

I daresay that the name and place have long been forgotten - or even known, or misidentified as something happening in New York, or maybe it was London - BUT THE INTERNET MEME LIVES ON!

Nothing diminishes and eventually devolves something into just another bad joke in an email than when something becomes an Internet meme.  I know that many of the people who are now doing "Pepper Spray Cop" pictures are progressive and believe they are "getting the word out," but now I see these popping up on both liberal and conservative sites and  everyone is laughing at them.

Outrage?  What outrage?

And so, in honor of today's anniversary . . .

That's not funny!

Why not?  Everything else seems to be.

JHC steffie!!!! the joke 'other than that how did you like the play, Mrs. Lincoln' didn't really become funny until 50 years after Mary Todd Lincoln and anyone who remember the Lincoln assassination died.

It occurs to me you may be just under the age to be old enough to remember -- trust me, if you were old enough, when Nov 22 rolls around you always remember with a shudder of revulsion.

No, I DO remember. But my point is that people treat history now as a challenge more to their Photoshop skills then their evolving - hopefully - zeitgeist. And by doing so, diminish the impact of the event. "Family Guy" just did an episode with a joke about 9/11. Sure, some people were outraged by it, but the mainstream media? *Yawn!*. Meanwhile, talking heads on popular shows are practically calling for this cop's head. Please. Army training got crap like this thrown in my face - uncomfortable, yes, but hardly warranting the hysteria it has produced.

"evolving zeitgeist" wtf??

Yes, Junior -evolving. I don't think the same way I did at 16. Oh sure, that works for the Occupiers, to be in a state of arrested development, but not me.

not so much "evolving" .. as "zeitgeist" - well both combined.

a gal from the Bronx - with armed forces training - a member of the NRA (I am assuming, as I am)- living in Tenn - swears (wonderously) like a sailor - using the term "evolving zeitgeist"? Honestly, that threw me - it sounds so "PC."

That's what I get from Catholic school - artsy foreign words. I think they give my comments a je ne sais quoi.

I laughed when I saw the outrage in the Daily Telegraph re: those students being peppered spayed. Holy toledo, frat and sorority initiations are harder to deal with.
