Birthday wishes to Bishop Tod* Brown of the Diocese of Orange, who turns 75 years old today. By Church law, he must submit his retirement to His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI. It is my understanding that Brown has asked for a five-year extension, so that he might buld a new cathedral for the diocese. That is why he has offered $57.5 million to buy the Crystal Cathedral, for which the bankruptcy judge has elayed his decision until Thursday.
I suppose I don't have a dog in this fight, no longer living in the Diocese of Orange. But I did for many years and I do not like Tod Brown. I hope he gets refused by the Pope and a new bishop be installed in Orange. My reasons range from personal rudeness directed at me and to others for whom I care deeply, to the transcript of his deposition regarding the sexual abuse scandal which had an amazing amount of weasel language in it.
So, happy birthday, your Grace, and happy trails.
*No, it's not a typo. He spells his name with one 'd." Like the German word, "Tod," which means death.

I do...I'm in his former diocese where the reign of terror still has an aftertaste...I do wish him well in retirement...then he can spend more time with Rog...I hope and pray that the Holy Father quickly accepts his resignation.
Why am I hearing a "don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out"???
