No, Black November is NOT a new spy thriller coming soon to a theater near you. It is the new MONTH LONG "Black Friday," the day after Thanksgiving when the stores start their Christmas sales.
Lord, take me now . . .
Well, since there is one less curmudgeon in the world with Andy Rooney's death, let me see if I can fill that void.
I grew up in New York City, which meant a sacred tradition of Thanksgiving was the annual viewing of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. And the culmination of the parade was at the very end, when Santa Claus would arrive at herald Square, dismount his sleigh, and walk into Macy's, thereby signaling the start of the traditional Christmas shopping season and prompting The New York Daily News and The New York Post to print a daily reminder that there were "x more shopping days until Christmas."
I miss that. Last night, Eldest Spawn and I popped into Walmart to grab a few things for home and as I was reaching for the shampoo, I realized the Muzak was playing . . . "I'll Be Home for Christmas."
