I know it is not nice to laugh at the misfortune of others. But there is a reason why the ancient Greeks depicted theater as two masks, one crying and one grinning like a jackass. And sometimes news articles have both tragedy and pure farce.
Arkansas weatherman Brett Cummins found in hot tub with naked dead man wearing 'dog collar': police
Okay, let's not jump to conclusions with this headline.
First, it's not unusual to be found in a hot tub naked. After all, it isn't a place where one normally wears clothes., right? At least not street clothes. And if he's naked . . . how else is he gonna hold on to his dog collar? Oh sure, you can ask why did he have one anyway, but how do you know he wan't looking for a lost dog? Because you can't, because he's dead, and dead men tell no tales. And the fact that he was found dead with a weatherman lends plausibility to the theory he was looking for a lost dog - I mean, you wouldn't look for your doggie alone, would you? A weatherman is a great help here because they deal with maps. Lots of them. And human interest stories. Don't discount the fact that this occurred in Arkansas - why, he and the weatherman are likely kin and who else but your own family would help you look for your dog? And as for the fact that the guy is dead . . . we are all mortal. The end's gotta come some time. Maybe his heart broke over his lost dog.
Understatement of the Year: "The meteorologist was horrified, the report indicated."
Spin of the Year: "KARK 4 News stated online Tuesday that 'Brett will not be on the air as he is mourning the loss of his friend.'"
