According to a CDC Morbidity and Mortality report, a previously healthy 19-year-old male from Michoacán, Mexico, on July 29, 2010, and began working at a sugarcane plantation in Louisiana as a migrant worker when he became ill.
It's believed the man was bitten on his heel by a vampire bat 10 days before leaving Mexico to begin work on a sugarcane plantation in Louisiana.
