Putting Baby in the Corner . . . and the Markdown Bin

News is that Hollywood plans to remake the Patrick Swayze/ Jennfier Grey film, "Dirty Dancing."

Well . . . what the hell?  Is this a sign of a distressed economy that there is no screenwriter in Hollywood with an original thought in their brain and the only solution is to "reuse" popular scripts/movies/themes?  I mean, I thought the Business had jumped the shark when it cast Sean Penn in a comedic remake of "The Three Stooges" - yeah, he's a stooge, but he's no Howard brother.
Shit, next thing you know, someone is thinking, if we give Anne Hathaway a Southern accent, and maybe Matt Damon as Rhett, then why don't we . . .?

Wait!  James Franco as a new, modern "emo" sort of Tom Joad in The Grapes of Wrath.  Featuring Queen Latifah as Ma Joad, a sassy, no-nonsense Oakie gal determined to keep her family together.  Selma Hayek as Rosasharon, Al Pacino as Pa Joad.

Oscar gold!
