Women Warriors in Special Ops

Army Special Operations Command has deployed its first teams of female Soldiers assigned to commando units in Afghanistan, and military officials are assessing their initial performance in theater as “off the charts.”
While I recognize the problems that may arise when mixed genders are fighting, I have often thought that the military was ignoring a very valuable resource in not allowing women into combat positions.  The Israeli Army had ong proven the effectiveness of a female fighting force, especially in the gathering of intelligence.

Margaret Mead, the famed anthropologist, once said that women were the "more vicious" of the species.  If that is so, give that lady a weapon and stand back.  There is nothing wrong with demanding certain criteria, such as meeting strength requirements (because there is a physical difference between the sexes, like it or not), but if a sister is qualified and willing, let her serve!

And let her get captured and become a sex slave for the other side. Great idea.

A risk that is also present for make soldiers. In both cases, those that volunteer for the military are aware that they could be captured and tortured in various ways. Your statement is not an adequate reason to deny women the opportunity to serve their country in this way.

Sorry . . . "male" soldiers, not "make".

Because being captured and raped is WAAAAAY worse than being burned almost to death, or blasted into the quad amputee ward.

For which fates women have long apparently qualified.
