Jesus, it hit 118 degrees in Phoenix!
I may be just an armchair theologian, but I am thinking their tenure during summer months counts toward Purgatory.
Add to that the fact that most of the place is a dump, and perhaps you've even got an indulgence.
But only for Phoenix Catholics. And not all will be deserving of it [1].
[1] Buzz and Mrs. Bannister are already on the road to canonization, so, no, I'm not talking about them.

That's hot.
Not crazy about you using God's name to drive home a point though. =(
We spent 2 years in Phoenix. It was the longest 20 years of my life. I remember the day it hit 120. The breeze about peeled the skin off my face like a sandblaster. Horrible place!
Kathy,
I use the vernacular of my Bronx upbringing. It is my true voice. It may be offensive to some people, but you will always know where I stand.
I do not consider the use of the occasional epithet to be violative of the 2nd Amendment. When God - or devotion thereof - is used to justify evil or morally repugnant human behavior, then it is such a violation.
As to what behavior falls in that category, why, isn't that with which we struggle daily to discern?
I LOVE it here, I just can't spell it.
