Yom Kippur Blessing

Yom Kippur Blessing, originally uploaded by Stephanie A. Richer.

October 9, 2008 at High Point, New Jersey.

This rabbi, his wife, and two sons came out to the highest spot in New Jersey, High Point, on Yom Kippur, specifically to recite prayers and blow the ram's horn - the shofar - at the four corners of the monument that is located there, as a blessing upon the earth. God bless and keep them.

Photography question: when you do black and white, do you shoot in black and white, or do you remove the color with Photoshop?

Anita, I always shoot in color, usually in a RAW format, and then do black-and-white processing in Photoshop. For B&W, I will use a black-and-white adjustment layer, or sometimes a channels adjustment layer. I never simply desaturate the image.

Thanx for the tip. I was exclusively into black and white when I did film photography, and have yet to do digital black and white. I think you're inspiring me to get into it!
