It's Not Worth It

Police say a man with a knife chased his wife through their Chino Hills neighborhood Tuesday and stabbed her to death in the street.

Samir Wahid, 39, was arrested at the scene in connection with the death of his wife, Iman, 33, according to San Bernardino County sheriff's spokeswoman Cindy Beavers. The couple emigrated from Lebanon, and Samir Wahid owned a construction company.
They were going through a divorce. I just found out a friend of mine is the attorney who was representing the slain woman. I will call her tomorrow, because I know she is devastated. As the attorney, you'd be second-guessing yourself: was there something I should have seen? What did I miss? Could I have done something differently? Another attorney-friend said that there were no indications that the husband would snap.
I like to remind my clients that orders in Family Law are largely temporary in nature. Child custody and support orders become moot with time because the children grow up. Spousal support is unlikely to last forever. As for property division, you're likely to buy new stuff in five years anyway.
But to kill someone and leave three grade-school children without parents, one dead and the other in prison? No, there is no excuse.

"Sam" Wahid is (was) in the same businesses as I. I did not compete with his business, but I know people who did.

This man was a cheater and a crook - he gamed the system - and within the the last couple of months he was caught cheating and was heavily fined for doing so.
