Ruthie
People make fun of me [Eddie] because I like Norms Restaurants, a Southern California chain. Maybe this video, that the firmn did to commemorate a server's 35th anniversary as an employeeexplains why.
Ruthie is one of the millions of "hidden saints". She's the 'real thing'. Thanks be to Jesus, there are so many like her, unknown to most, known to God. They make this word continue to exist. Because without them. We be gone.
You are such a blessing! I am a bit of food snob so it has never occurred to me to eat at Norms but after 'meeting' Ruthie, I am going to make it a point to go there. Maybe even for soup; I hear their soup is quite good!
Nora, not only is their soup good, but their roasted turkey breast is outstanding. Look, it's a diner, and every once in awhile all you want is maybe a grilled cheese or something not as fancy. My mother, of blessed memory (+), loved the fact that if she wanted just a poached egg and a buttered egg muffin, by golly, that's what she got. The one in Santa Ana is usually packed for most of the day on Sunday, where it is not uncommon to see 3 or 4 generations of a Latino family at a table.
Tara, if you are ever in SoCal, I'm taking you to a Norms!
And . . . they NEVER close! 24/7, 365 days a year.
You have inspired me to go; grilled cheese is one of life's great pleasures, can't believe you mentioned that. I feel a little stalker-ish; first you inspire me to plan a trip to NOLA (we go in June) and now, Norms. You are my Gwyneth Paltrow!!!

Who in the hell is this Eddie guy you speak of. Why he must be crazy to not want to dine at Norms.

Is this restaurant in movies? It sure looks familiar. (I've never been to California, or past Las Vegas.)
