Abortion rights advocates are disturbed. Spelman College professor Beverly Guy-Sheftall called the strategy a gimmick.
"To use racist arguments to try to bait black people to get them to be anti-abortion is just disgusting," said Guy-Sheftall, who teaches women's history and feminist thought at the historically black women's college.
"These one-issue approaches that are not about saving the black family or black children, it's just a big distraction," she said. "Many black people don't know who Margaret Sanger is and could care less."
How very interesting that a history teacher would make a comment like that. Your first statement is correct, Professor - many black people do not know who is Margaret Sanger, but your second is incorrect. They should know who Margaret Sanger is, and you, ma'am, are likely a hypocrite because I am quite sure you teach that people like Jessie Helms were terrible racists , it was convenient because they were not attached to a liberal institution as Margaret Sanger is to Planned Parenthood.
Since 1973, 9,000,000+ reported abortions have been performed on African-American women. Tuskagee University, who maintains statistics on lynchings against Blacks, reports that between 1882 and 1959, there has been a total of 4,733 lynchings. There's your history.

Margaret Sanger was a white racist eugenicist. She called black people "human weeds." She pushed birth control in order to reduce the non-white population, all under the guise of "compassion" and "fighting poverty," and actively recruited black pastors and other black leaders for that purpose.
Imagine what a better place this world might be if only Catholics had held firm against birth control. I'm convinced abortion would not have made as much headway as it has if we had not been lying down on the job.
