Geek Alert!

Great news for parents and geeks and any combination thereof!

Bill Nye The Science Guy® teaches algebraic principles such as fractions, exponents, and proportions in colorful and unexpected ways.
Oh, c'mon, I loved the "Bill Nye, The Science Guy" series! And now he's taking on mathematics. How cool is that?

I used to like him until I saw this clip.

I'm sure you'll call me a prude, but I'm looking at it through my kids eyes and what they might think.

Kathy,

I watched that clip and it really wasn't that bad. I would hope that older kids - and I am talking about junior high and high school kids - get a chuckle but remember the lesson about why the sexual act exists in nature.

What's wrong about saying sex is fun?

I guess I'm thinking of the younger set. I don't think Jr high and H.S is his target audience. I'd hate for my kids first talk about sex to come from some Saturday morning kids' show.

You trust these shows b/c when they are new to your kids you watch them to make sure they're "safe" and once you deem them okay to watch, you step back (at least I do). My kids could get an education I didn't want for them to have and I might not necessarily find out about it.

My older son just read a book that looked innocent enough and there was a whole chapter on how Santa was an "idea". Okay, he's 9 so it's not that big of a deal, but I didn't like how the author snuck that little tidbit in there. My 6 year old almost read that book.

I hate that I have to watch every single little thing my kids read/watch/do b/c some jerk might have their own agenda in what they want to teach my children. Grrrrr!

End of rant.

Hey, if it ain't got math it ain't science. I wonder why it took him so long to make the connection for kids.
