A 12-year-old Yemeni child-bride died after struggling for three days in labor to give birth, a local human rights organization said.
Fawziya Abdullah Youssef died of severe bleeding on Friday while giving birth to a stillborn in the al-Zahra district hospital of Hodeida province, 140 miles west of the capital San'a.
Youssef was only 11 when her father married her to a 24-year-old man who works as a farmer in Saudi Arabia, Ahmed al-Quraishi, chairman of Siyaj human rights organization, said Saturday. In February, parliament passed a law setting the minimum marriage age at 17. But some lawmakers are trying to kill the measure, calling it un-Islamic.
Child abuse evidently doesn't rank high in terms of importance in Yemeni culture. If you want to embrace "multi-culturalism" and "diversity," this is what you get. Makes you wonder how many schoolgirls you see trotting off to school in their hijabs here in America are secretly married.
May Fawziya and her dead child be received into Heaven by Our Blessed Mother.

Speechless.............
How I would I love to meet face-to-face the husband....
This is what will happen when we let their barbaric culture take over...it's already happening, "honor killings" and such matters.
This is so sickening and sad.
I linked to a telegraph article (I think) that showed a picture of a man in his 40s and his 11 year old child bride. The kid's eyes were "dead."
That wasn't a husband/wife. That was a 40something rapist with a license and a kid no one cared about enough not to virtually sell.
