IC . . . Irony . . . LOL

The Obama administration will convene a summit of experts to figure out what to do about the problem of texting while driving, a practice studies and a growing number of accidents show can be deadly.

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood will announce his decision to gather senior transportation officials, safety advocates, law enforcement representatives, members of Congress and academics who study distracted driving at a news conference Tuesday. The summit will take place next month.
This is truly an example of a nanny state, to the point where something as mundane as this requires a "summit of experts." Oddly enough, a federal ban would be permissible under the Constitution as it regulates interstate transportation, but are we going to see "federal traffic court" any time soon?

Mind you, during his campaign, Obama made full use of text messaging. Meanwhile . . .

Ahead of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's seven-nation trip to Africa this week, he Obama administration is texting all Africans (or non-Africans in Africa, like this reporter) who sent a question or comment during last month’s Ghana visit.

He's out to kill the Africans!

Utah just made it illegal to text while driving. Didn't require a high level summit either.

I think that anyone should be able to execute immediate justice with a .45 on anyone simultaneously driving and texting (or yakking on a cell-phone without a hands free setup). I wouldn't have to worry as I don't have a cell phone
