I have been wearing contacts for about a year now. Their design calls for my sight to be corrected for far-away vision in my right eye, and close-up vision in my left eye.
I am right-handed and have always shot firearms by focusing with my right eye. Last Saturday, however, I went to the gun range after an absence of about 5 months and found I was shooting better - while purposely wearing my eyeglasses that correct both eyes - by focusing with my left eye.
I know I got me some friends out there with much more experience around firearms - could my dominant eye for shooting be shifting as a result of contact use? Not that it's a problem - I'll just shoot with my left eye.

Hmmmm...without going into this too deeply...first Really figure out your dominant eye, it's not very rare to be a cross dominant shooter....Determining your dominant eye is achieved several ways but the two most common are to extend your arm and pick an object off in the distance. With both eyes open, either cover the object with the tip of your index finger, or make a circle with your index finger and thumb. Close your right eye. Close your left eye. Which eye misses the mark? The eye that has your target object covered by the pointing finger, or has your target inside the circle of fingers is your dominant eye. Your other eye “supports” this strong eye......
Then, the way I always taught, use BOTH eyes to aquire target, sight down your weapon and briefly close you weak eye for aiming...the ticket is "briefly"....too much said, and a whole lot more explaining to do, but that's the gist of Wollf school.
Interesting. Joe was teaching me the dominant eye method similar to that. My problem is that I have had lasik surgery on one of my eyes and found that I kept closing the wrong eye (seemed to be a habit). I needed to concentrate and work on closing the correct eye.
...my 2 cents worth,...
OMG - I just cracked myself up.
What on earth am I doing commenting on shooting? Afterall, I've only had 2 lessons.
Hory Clap.............
