The memorial service for singer Michael Jackson cost the city of Los Angeles $1.4 million, the mayor's office said Wednesday. The city, which is $530 million in debt, set up a Web page asking Jackson fans to donate money to help with the expenses. On Tuesday morning, hundreds of donors contributed more than $17,000 through the Web site. But then, the high volume of traffic caused it to crash frequently and for long periods of time, the mayor's office said.
Tell me who is more stupid - the city for not planning of financing before the event, or the eedjuts who have ponied up $17,000?
And I am curious to know the status of that $17,000 - betcha most of it comes from people earning less than $50,000 annually.
How much has the family paid?
