See, It Really Is Bill O'Reilly's Fault

White supremacist groups are vastly expanding. And right-wing TV rhetoric, houghtless in its cruelty and ratings-hungry demagoguery, is helping feed the paranoia and rage that for some Americans now bubbles just beneath the surface.

The result of this wink-wink anti-immigrant and
anti-government rhetoric has been “a kind of mainstreaming of hate propaganda,” Potok said. “The white supremacist propaganda agenda is being expressed by pundits, politicians, and preachers. Criminal violence by members of this movement is a tiny danger to most Americans. The larger danger is the mainstreaming of these very vile and provably false ideas that do lead to violence.”

I think it is important to note the use of lumping together anti-immigrant - and, as the rst of the editorial recites, anti-Black, and anti-Semite, adn anti-abortion - along with anti-government. Because if you are not on board with the government, then you are a threat. Political opposition and criticism of The One will not be tolerated.
BTW, listening to a snippet of Bill O'Reilly while driving, I heard him mention that when they investigated the Holocaust Museum shooter's web site, it had a list of "enemies" to be eradicated, including . . . Bill O'Reilly.
I did like one person's comments to this editorial:
So we’re now learning that the perpetrator of the tragedy at the Holocost Museum was obsessed with neocons, bashed Bush, thought 9-11 was an inside job, and may even have had the address of the Weekly Standard on him (?). Although in most cases that would qualify him for a charter membership in MoveOn.org, we of course have to exploit the tragedy to take some further shots at the usual conservative whipping persons.
I still figure I'm on Napolitano's list.
