What is certain, police say, is that a gang member from out of town was spotted limping down a residential street with a bullet hole in his buttocks.

"He said his back was hurt and was really evasive" with the officer, Lt. Scott Watson said. "Then he admitted he'd been shot. He claimed a maroon truck pulled up and someone shot at him with a handgun, but he didn't see anything else. There were all kinds of people out there" in the neighborhood, but none of them could verify the man's claim.
