I am in a black-and-white mood, photographywise, today. These were two sisters who made their 1st Holy Communion yesterday, along with my son. Their dresses reflect - I will guess - one proud mother and abuelita!
As Verger, I revel in serving at the celebration of baptisms, first communions and "quincienearas".
Then there is Pentecost, the catechumins all jittery in their finery and scared to the point where they squeak when the bishop calls upon them.
Until his hands, warm with the Spirit of God, annoint them. I've gone all weak kneed when their eyes connect and the Fire burns and God pours out that love, that power.
