Politics ≠ Dogma

“In union with people of good will everywhere, I plead with all those responsible to explore every possible avenue in the search for a just resolution of the outstanding difficulties, so that both peoples may live in peace in a homeland of their own, within secure and internationally recognized borders.”
I have to break ranks with His Holiness. I believe so long as there is a "Palestinian homeland," it will be nothing more than a rocket launch pad for Hamas and the like.

I really wrestle with this one.

On the one hand, if you look at how the state of Israel was created, it majorly sucked for the people who were living there at the time.

On the other hand, several groups and persons (including Hamas and Hezbollah, and of course our dear Ahmadinejad of Iran) have basically said that Israel has no right to exist and that they're not going to be happy until it no longer does. Obviously compromise is not going to work there.

All the same, I keep coming back to what my beloved husband sagely says about the situation:

"Share the f***ing land!!!"

Since they won't play nice, how about a 3rd solution kick them both out and we'll take up permanent residence there, ;)

As long as there are Muslims and Jews within shootin' distance, they will.

I still think Golda Meir's thought says it best (paraphrase):

"I can forgive them for killing our children, I cannot forgive them forgive them for causing us to kill their children. As long as they hate us more than they love their own children, there can be no peace."

-Or sumpin like that!

We live in a broken, sinful world. Until Christ returns and takes over, there will be wars, rumors of wars and deadly conflict.

I am in favor of making New Jersey a Palestinian homeland.
