A silly little battle over an unimportant, dusty little town against disheartened Fwenchy troops......whoopdi'frikken'do!
Our friends from Aguas Calientes have never understood all the hoopla and frenzy in the Latino community in America del Norte.
Low riders and cruisers, gangsta drug dealers and prostitutes will effectively shut down Federal Boulevard from I-70 up north to Evans Avenue down south, about 15 miles. Only the main east-west cross streets will be open. Basically this splits the city in half for a full 24/48 hour period.
Denver LEO's will be out in force in Districts one, two and four. They will double their force, canceled all leaves and vacation and stepped up the drug and graffitti task force patrols.
Cinco de Mayo...es un pequenito celebracion para barachos y pindehos. Par mi es muy feo, un golpe in mi nalgas, fah!
Well at least the Europeans had the decency to write good music about defeating the French armies:
Wellington's Victory,Op.91 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven to commemorate the Duke of Wellington's victory over Joseph Bonaparte’s forces at the Battle of Vitoria in Spain on June 21, 1813.
1812 Overture, Op. 49 Was written to commemorate Russia's defense of Moscow against Napoleon’s advancing Grande Armée at the Battle of Borodino in 1812.
Sven, We Zacatecanos are amused by all the hoopla al norte on this date. Should we start celebrating the Battle of Breed's Hill and a polite return gesture? Ah, but la Bandera Mexicana is on display in front of this Orange County casa.
Dino, I'm laughin' here! The whole of the San Luis Valley in Southern Colorado was, at one time, amde up of Spanish Land Grant families. Most who still live there are like you...amused. They consider themselves Americans.
Breed's Hill and Bunker Hill, like the battle of Puebla, are of historic significance. But to create a singular, overarching celebration based on such, I still don't get it.
For me, my heart resides further south. Part of me will always be a Guatemaltecan.
The Quetzal and a visage of Techun-Uman are proudly displayed in this Americano's casa.

Because it's not everyday you beat the French in a battle. Because it's not everyday that they stay and fight.Heh.
Ha-ah I celebrate 5 May for the same reason you do!

Mr. Happy,
I never took you for a "glass-half-full" kinda guy.
HOWEVER!!! ~
When you bring up Beethoven's work, and Tchaikovsky....Well, maybe I do need to keep praying for the redemption and salvation of SoCal.
Mr.Happy - Who knew that the way to Sven's heart was thru musik!!!
hahahaha
He's hoping for our redemption so we don't all end up in his neck of the woods. LOL
