Oklahoma City

I can't believe it has been so long. Fourteen years ago at 9:02 in the morning a truck parked outside the America's Kids Day Care Center exploded. The blast, fueled by a fertilizer-diesel mix, was felt up to sixty miles away. It obliterated the day care center and brought down a third of the building. It shattered the windows of nearby buildings, killing or injuring many outside the target.
A very moving recollection. I will remember the victims today at Mass.

Tomorrow is the 10th Anniversary of the massacre at Columbine High School in Littleton. The killers, Harris and Klebold, with cold and calculated premeditation, set out to kill as many students and faculty as possible.

They attempted to blow up portions of the school with pipe bombs and the cafeteria with propane bombs. The bombs did not go off.

The two did kill 13, 12 students and one teacher. 22 others sustained injuries either from direct fire or as collateral damage from shattered glass and/or schrapnel.

Harris and Klebold then committed suicide...single gunshot wounds to the head.

Oh...FYI, tomorrow is also the 120th birthday of The Austrian paperhanger turned Genocidal Oligarch, Adolph Hitler.

Gosh Digi - I can vividly recall that day. It was devastating, to say the very least. Hard to believe that it has been that long ago.
