I think for St. Patrick's Day a photograph of one of me Irish ancestors is in order. This fine lady is Elizabeth McDowell of Counties Antrim and Down. She is my great-grandmother. Good Lord, I think I see a family resemblance!

Now....me Granfather, William Francis (Woody) Martin was "black" Irish - dark hair, ruddy complexion, steel blue eyes. I'll have to dig out a pic and scan it.
He was a handsome, ornery sumbitch until the day he died. The docs called it emphysema back then. Actually, it prolly was mesothelioma. Grandpa worked as a Navy contract pipefitter during WW II. Asbestos everywhere...and yes, he chain smoked KOOL straights.
