January 22nd

Pray for us sinners.

It hit me this morning, out of the blue. 36 years now, nearly 50 million dead.
I look for some notice in my paper. I carefully read through the executive orders that have begun to trickle from Washington D.C. and wonder if will he mark the anniversary today by allowing embryonic human souls to become a market commodity.
Pray for us sinners.
Let's talk about race. Let's talk about genocide. 9 million African-American babies are gone. I can imagine Margaret Sanger smiling from Hell at that statistic.
Pray for us sinners.
We pride ourselves on creating life in a petri dish. We pride ourselves on creating an industry that ends with blood running down the drain of a sink. We believe ourselves to be God. Now we are become Death, the destroyer of worlds.
Pray for us sinners.
"This right of privacy, whether it be founded in the Fourteenth Amendment's concept of personal liberty and restrictions upon state action, as we feel it is, or, as the District Court determined, in the Ninth Amendment's reservation of rights to the people, is broad enough to encompass a woman's decision whether or not to terminate her pregnancy. The detriment that the State would impose upon the pregnant woman by denying this choice altogether is apparent. Specific and direct harm medically diagnosable even in early pregnancy may be involved. Maternity, or additional offspring, may force upon the woman a distressful life and future. Psychological harm may be imminent. Mental and physical health may be taxed by child care." Roe v. Wade (1973) 410 U.S. 113.
Maternity can "force upon a woman" a distressful life and future? Careful . . . just like the bubonic plague, you might catch pregnancy.
Pray for us sinners.
Here is the face of pride. Here is the face of love. I believe one thinks of the other with disgust, while the other thinks of the first with compassion. You can decide how that works.
Pray for us sinners.
Now and at the hour of our deaths.

We each commemorate the day in our own way, I guess:

"...the administration in the afternoon issued a reversal of a ban on federal funding for non-governmental organizations working outside the U.S. that offer abortions or abortion counseling.

Obama signed the executive order on the 36th anniversary of the landmark Roe v. Wade Supreme Court ruling that legalized abortion in all 50 states.
"

That was at the very end of this Fox News story:
