Where's Mary?

Thieves pried a four-to-five-foot bronze statue of the Virgin Mary off its base at a Newport Beach Catholic church, most likely for its recycling value, Newport Beach police Lt. Craig Fox said.
The statue stolen Friday night depicted the mother of Jesus Christ bent in prayer, and sat in front of the Our Lady Queen of Angels Church sign at the corner of Mar Vista and Domingo drives.
They took Mary from Our Lady Queen of Angels Church in Newport Beach. Unfortunately, I think the newspaper is right - this is not some sort of retaliatory act, but an economic one, albeit illegal. Let's hope the scrap yard is scrupulous and turns her into authorities.
Unfortunately, the ghastly mural on the back of St. Joseph's Church cannot be stolen. And even if it were statuary, I'm not sure anyone would want it.

The one of the Divine Mercy? hmmm...

Let's hope Mary makes a safe return to her home at QOA. It's a nice little place I've been there, I'd have to look for pictures of the Statue, but I think I have some.

Okay, about the Cathedral in Hell-A do you think THAT can be pried off its base? The problem is, where do you fence that stuff? It won't even look like it came from a church.

I think some spray paint would help your Parish. That image really needs a makeover,

Walter,

Your brother was trying to figure out a way to get the local vatos to tag it, so he would have a reason to paint it over. I told him not to do it himself, because with his penchant for "accidents", he'd be half-way through before he realized he screwed up: "M-O-N-E-Y-P . . . aw, crap!"

But trust me, someday it is coming off. And that day might be soon. But how would I know of such plans?
