Home Again

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good.

At 2:13 pm EST today, my mother went Home. No doubt my father came calling for her and said, "C'mon, sweetheart, it's time." And I know she went happily, and now they are together again, and her younger brother, Michael, and her parents, Wanda and Michael, are there to welcome her.

Stephanie:

My sympathies to you and your family.

On Monday, my priest's father passed away unexpectedly and today at Mass he talked about how, through the sadness, he realized his father was meeting Jesus.

I'll keep your all in my prayers.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

I love the picture - it makes me feel like I know her.

I will be praying, both that she make a straight shot into Heaven, and that with God's grace (and hopefully the help of the law), the battle you no doubt have in front of you against your sister for your mother's remains is swift and not too painful for you.

Oh, Steph, I'm so sorry. Nothing really prepares you. I'll keep her and your family in my prayers. ditto one for your sister, though she might require the nine first Fridays, and a trip to Lourdes. God bless you all.

May she rest in peace! I know she is probably already a saint--but I'll have a couple Masses said for her--just in case. Heaven's gain, but, I am so sorry for your loss of her here on earth.

What a wonderful photo. God bless you and may she rest in peace.

I have taken the liberty of adding your mother's name to our Month for the Souls In Purgatory prayer initiative.

Her name now appears in the sidebar with the other souls for whom are praying daily between Nov 25 and Dec 25 and for whom we are having masses said.

Lots of love and prayers headed your way, Stephanie - and anything I can do from here, consider it done.

Martha and I are praying for you and those who remain here awaiting our final reward.

From everything you've said about her, I know she was/is a really neat person. I too will have some masses said. I like the idea of her rooting for us from other side.

Thinking of you too in your time of sadness!

Continued prayers for your family in this time of grief. Eternal rest grant unto Dorothy, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.

Dig:
Our most heartfelt sympathies to the entire digiclan. We will have you in our nightly prayers.

While it can be only a small comfort, remember that you now have a POWERFUL ally in the Church Triumphant and that it is somewhat comforting knowing that you can (and I am certain WILL) talk with her often and know her protection is there whenever needed. Over 10 years on and I still talk to my Dad often.

Next gig....we will raise a pint in hers, and all of our faithful departed's honors....

Dominus Vobiscum!

SARita,

So sorry to hear about your Mom's passing, but I know you find comfort in knowing she is in Heaven and has met the Lord. P.S. I had a dream about you last night; you were carrying a Louis Vuitton handbag.

I lost my mother after a painful fight with cancer. I found this prayer most comforting:

"Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, we turn to thee, O Virgin of virgins, our Mother. To thee we come, before thee we stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word incarnate, do not despise our petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer us. Amen."

I'm so sorry to hear Stephanie. This is one of my favorite lyrics as someone goes home to the Lord:

Our prayers have all been answered. I finally arrived.
The healing that had been delayed has now been realized.
No one's in a hurry. There's no schedule to keep.
We're all enjoying Jesus, just sitting at His feet.

If you could see me now, I'm walking streets of gold.
If you could see me now, I'm standing strong and whole.
If you could see me now, you'd know I've seen His face.
If you could see me now, you'd know the pain is erased.
You wouldn't want me to ever leave this place,
If you could only see me now.

My light and temporary trials have worked out for my good,
To know it brought Him glory when I misunderstood.
Though we've had our sorrows, they can never compare.
What Jesus has in store for us, no language can share.

You wouldn't want me to ever leave this perfect place
If you could only see me now.

Amen.

Thank you, all, for your kind thoughts. We knew Mom had terminal lung cancer back in August, and I know she is delighted to "have gone so quickly."

My mother was fearless. In october when I visited her, she laughed and said, "You know, dying isn't so bad - I now have something to look forward to!" She also admitted she was "incredibly curious" to see finally what Death would be like.

Boazo, in some ways that reminded me of my grandmother, who would always say, "I better enjoy this Thanksgiving/Christmas/Easter/Pulaski Day . . . I may not live to see next year's . . ." until the day I said to her, "You know, Grandma, some year you'll be right."
