Happy New Year!

To all my fellow Catholics (1 billion plus and growing!):

No explanation needed, right?

Yes, but I am wishing you all Happy New Year as if it were New Year's Eve!

I remember reading a piece from a local priest once about how he and fellow priests would get together on Christ the King to see the end of the liturgical year with "cheers and beers." Sounds good to me!

Next Sunday is, indeed, the first Sunday of Advent. For today, though, it is Auld Lang Syne. We just don't have a precise moment of midnight.

And we have a week for celebration! Wow!
*if "Dies irae" in the Breviary don't prevent*
