Just a reminder - this Saturday, November 1st, is my annual Dia de los Muertos fiesta - the Day of the Dead, when we remember our loved ones in a very special way. Anyone in the area of Santa Ana is invited to drop by and bring a picture or something for the ofrenda, or the altar. If you click on the image above, you will get the details.
Unpacking my Day of the Dead supplies, I came across the book that I place on the altar for people to write in, as a way of honoring their loved ones. Sometimes it is a story, sometimes it is simply, "My sister - I miss her."
Here is my offer - if you are unable to make it and would like your loved one to be honored, send me a picture or send me what you would like written in the book. If a picture, I will make sure it is placed on the ofrenda in a frame.
Please know - this is done reverently and with dignity. Dia de los Muertos is NOT anything ghoulish, nor is it meant to send any political message. It is about remembering those you loved and admired who are no longer with you here on Earth, but for whom you have hopes and expectations of seeing again in the afterlife.
Death can be tragic, but it is made even more so by forgetting the person.
Submissions can be sent to my email - see my profile to the right.
