I read the articles about the now-concluded World Youth Day and I have also read the blogs where people have been critical of it, scornfully saying it serves to produce another generation of poorly-trained Catholics in the teachings of the Church.
I say this - I think a little "in-your-face-we're-Catholic" rah-rah rally is great for our youth. We should be wearing a badge everyday that says, "Proud to Be a Catholic" regardless of whether we're rad-Trad or left-Liberal. And if our young men and women can have an event that allows all that energy to express itself, I say, let's have it! Because it works for people of that age and gives them that boost that, who knows, causes them to pick up Summa Thelogica and read it, and who knows, even enter a vocation!
Your Holiness . . . you rock!
