Penance

At St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York City, there was a priest sitting in the confessional and a steady stream of people - tourists, professionals, pilgrims, blue collar workers, street people - who kept coming in and getting in line for a few moments on a kneeler before a screen. My brother and I followed suit and we went back out onto the hot city streets, refreshed by more than the air conditioning in the church.
