Watchkeep
Brother Solomon said he liked to make sure people heard the truth about the story behind the motel. And he told me. But he didn't think any of those cars belonged to the Rev. King.
Dang girl...Lorraine Motel! You get around...the spooky part is even before I read this item, I thought to myself - "that looks like the Lorraine motel!"
Hey, between Friday night when we arrived and Wednesday afternoon when we left, the Girl and I:
-- Visited a freshwater pearl farm in Camden, TN
-- Stopped and watched a wild turkey by the side of the road
-- Visited the Pink Palace museum, which included panning for gold, talking to Alpha Kappa Alpha members, and checking out the very first Piggly Wiggly store.
-- Watched the "retiring of the ducks" at the Peabody Hotel.
-- Visited 3 reknowned BBQ places.
-- Visited the Lorraine Motel and the National Civil Rights Museum.
-- Followed a 1:30 replica of the lower 1000 miles of the Mississippi River at Mud Island River Park.
-- Strolled Beale Street.
-- Took a ghost tour in Memphis and a ghost tour in Nashville.
-- Attended Sunday Mass at St. Peter's, the oldest Catholic church in Memphis.
-- Drove across the river just to say we were in Arkansas and yell, "Soweeee!"
-- Toured the Gibson guitar factory and learned what a luthier is.
-- Saw the Tennessee Supreme Court convene and grant the motion to admit one California lawyer to its bar.
-- Listened to some fine soul and gospel music.
-- Paid homage to WC Handy in front of his statue.
-- Went to Graceland and paid hoamge to The King.
-- At fried chicken and catfish at the famed Loveless Cafe. Got biscuits?
-- Visited the Opry Mills outlet mall. Sadly, Kate is not much of a country music fan so I did not try to score tickets to the Grand Ole Opry that featured that night Carrie Underwood and Montgomery Gentry.
-- Toured the Hermitage, the home of President Andrew Jackson.
