Our Legs, Fit Your Legs, They Hug You, They Hold You . . .

Today in history, Benito Mussolini and his mistress, Clara, were executed and strung up in a Milanese piazza. I am always reminded of the story told to me by a fellow high school and NYU classmate about his grandmother who was there when it happened.
Her strongest impression? As it turns out, she got close enough to the bodies to see that despite the rough treatment by the crowd, there was not a single run or tear in Clara's stockings.
C'mon, only a woman in a rush to get ready for work on a Monday morning can appreciate that . . .

!a woman I know who was a buyer for big chains on the east coast told me that in the mid-60s there was still a company overseas that they'd buy hosiery from, and their stocking cost the earth BUT they'd basically hold up through a war.

I HATE the planned obsolescence in stockings. I'd like to kill the ba$tard who invented them - but he's probably already dead! And frankly, the old way of doing stockings was better, if you ruined one the whole pair wasn't wrecked. What fathead decided that women really loved having the crotch of pantyhose hit mid thigh and you wanted to take 5-10 minutes putting them on and getting them straight.

So help me it would be a valid mercy killing because on a technicality the guy had no soul.
