Is this a look at the future? As some of you know, my 7-year-old has, on various occasions, announced his intention to become a priest some day.
I happened to catch this shot today at the Passion Play - from left to right, Fr. Michael St. Paul; Fr. John Moneypenny; and the future Patrick Cardinal Richer.
Update: Patrick came up to me this morning and asked me if I wanted to see the "little Calvary" that he made. Wea re having friends and family over for Easter tomorrow, so I've set him on the task today of making an empty tomb somewhere in our backyard.
BTW, the shirt in both pictures is his "First Baptist Children's Center" shirt, because that is where he and his sister attend summer day camp. When my husband pointed this out, I said simply, "That's because Pope Patrick will be the one to reunite all the Christians under Holy Mother Church - it's an ecumenical matter, so leave it at that!"

Quite ambitious thoughts. He will get appointed by Pope John XXIV.
Walter, if my son goes into the priesthood, it's the road to the papcy or nothing!
Can I count on you and Martha to be joining the holiday gatherings with the family . . . at the Vatican . . . where you can tell people, "Oh yeah, this Easter we're doing the Vigil AT THE VATICAN with the son of some friends, HIS HOLINESS THE POPE . . ."?
My seven year old says the same thing. He drew a picture of himself saying Mass when he was five :) Maybe our boys will be in seminary together, but I have no aspirations for him to "climb the ranks". I'll be happy if he is just a simple, holy priest. :)
BTW, Walter, if your reference to "Pope John XXIV" is one directed at your brother, when pondering the likelihood of that ever happening, I am picturing a winter wonderland in Hades!
However, should that occur, it would be the first time an In-N-Out Burger is established in Vatican City at the direction of the Holy See. I can see a poor Swiss Guard having to make that midnight run now . . ."Excuse me, His Holiness would like a double-double, extra onions grilled . . ."
;-)
Texas, ya never know!
ROFLMAO Digi.
Oh, YES! I can see it--he is a priest--a priest forever! When your doing the Easter Vigil at the Vatican--you better invite me! Daily, when I pray my prayer for priests--he will be included.
Tara, you're in! Midnight Mass at Christmas is also an open invite!
(Hey, when you're the mother of the Pope, you can invite anyone you want! Patrick may well be the leader of in excess of 2 billion Catholics by that time, God willing, but he's still my little Moe.)
Okay, so far we've got the Moneypennies of Phoenix coming, Tara, I'm sure my brother and Patrick's godparents will be there, his big sister (with an attitude, of course) - anyone else? Don't worry about accommodations - I'll make sure Patrick gets a couple of sofa beds for the Vatican . . .
Maybe Pope John XXIV will make him Patrick Cardinal Richer-lieu
Dear future MOP (mom of pope), don't forget you need a contingent from Canada at any and all Vatican events......!!!!(me, me, me!!!)
Score! Midnight Mass! Making Calvary in the backyard--what a delightful Pope he will be!
DUH - count me and The Canuck in!!
No pressure on little Patrick, eh? ;-)
Kasia, none whatsoever - I leave it all in the hands of the Holy Spirit!
